Abstract
This study investigates the relationship between ADHD symptom severity, metacognition, problematic social media use, and cyberbullying/cybervictimization in treatment-na & iuml;ve adolescents. Understanding these relationships is vital for enhancing ADHD intervention strategies. Using a cross-sectional design, 97 adolescents meeting DSM-5 criteria for ADHD without any comorbidity and 97 healthy controls were assessed. Measures included the Metacognitions Questionnaire for Children, Social Media Disorder Scale, Revised Cyberbullying Inventory-II, and Revised Conners' Parent Rating Scale-Short. The comparisons were performed with independent samples' t tests and the associations were estimated by using Pearson's bivariate correlations and multiple regression analyses. Results revealed that adolescents with ADHD exhibited higher levels of dysfunctional metacognitions, problematic social media use, cyberbullying, and cybervictimization compared to controls. Regression analysis showed significant positive associations between ADHD symptoms, specific metacognitions (e.g., positive meta-worry, cognitive monitoring), and problematic social media use. This study, the first of its kind among treatment-na & iuml;ve ADHD adolescents, provides valuable insights into the relationship between ADHD symptoms and particular metacognitions (i.e. positive meta-worry, cognitive monitoring) and problematic social media use. These findings contribute to a deeper understanding of ADHD in adolescence and may inform the development of targeted prevention and treatment strategies, particularly relevant given adolescents' susceptibility to social media's influence and their potential for cognitive flexibility in rehabilitation contexts.

Abstract
Background: Post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection (PASC) is a complicated disease that affects millions of people all over the world. Previous studies have shown that PASC impacts 10% of SARS-CoV-2 infected patients of which 50-70% are hospitalised. It has also been shown that 10-12% of those vaccinated against COVID-19 were affected by PASC and its complications. The severity and the later development of PASC symptoms are positively associated with the early intensity of the infection. Results: The generated health complications caused by PASC involve a vast variety of organ systems. Patients affected by PASC have been diagnosed with neuropsychiatric and neurological symptoms. The cardiovascular system also has been involved and several diseases such as myocarditis, pericarditis, and coronary artery diseases were reported. Chronic hematological problems such as thrombotic endothelialitis and hypercoagulability were described as conditions that could increase the risk of clotting disorders and coagulopathy in PASC patients. Chest pain, breathlessness, and cough in PASC patients were associated with the respiratory system in long-COVID causing respiratory distress syndrome. The observed immune complications were notable, involving several diseases. The renal system also was impacted, which resulted in raising the risk of diseases such as thrombotic issues, fibrosis, and sepsis. Endocrine gland malfunction can lead to diabetes, thyroiditis, and male infertility. Symptoms such as diarrhea, nausea, loss of appetite, and taste were also among reported observations due to several gastrointestinal disorders. Skin abnormalities might be an indication of infection and long-term implications such as persistent cutaneous complaints linked to PASC. Conclusions: Long-COVID is a multidimensional syndrome with considerable public health implications, affecting several physiological systems and demanding thorough medical therapy, and more study to address its underlying causes and long-term effects is needed.

Abstract
Although social anxiety disorder (SAD) is widespread and associated with significant distress, its etiology is not yet fully explored. We aimed to examine how metacognitions and mindfulness interact with SAD symptoms. 531 college students were enrolled in this study. Participants completed the Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale (LSAS), the Metacognition Questionnaire -30 (MCQ-30), and the Five -Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire (FFMQ). A path analysis was run to explore the associations between test variables. A positive correlation was found between metacognition and SAD symptoms, while mindfulness negatively correlated with SAD symptoms and metacognition. In the established path model, metacognition had an indirect effect on SAD symptoms, which is partially mediated by mindfulness. Our findings imply that metacognitions and mindfulness may influence SAD symptoms among young adults. Mindfulness seems to have a prominent role in regulating metacognition's effects on SAD symptoms. Therefore, interventions that accurately target these factors may alleviate the symptoms of this debilitating psychological disturbance.

Abstract
Abnormalities in emotion recognition (ER) are frequently reported in depression, with lower recognition accuracy in patients with major depressive disorder (MDD) when compared to healthy individuals. Mindfulness was found to directly impact the severity of depressive symptoms, by recognizing negative cognitions and dysfunctional reactions. The aims of this study were to compare ER and mindfulness levels between MDD patients and healthy controls (HCs), as well as to examine whether ER and mindfulness are related to symptom severity in MDD patients. Sixty-eight patients with MDD and 93 HCs participated in the study. A sociodemographic form, reading the mind in the eyes test (RMET), five facet mindfulness questionnaire-short form (FFMQ-S) and the Montgomery-Asberg depression scale (MADRS) were administered. Group comparison in ER and mindfulness was performed using the multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA). Bivariate correlations and hierarchical linear regression analyses were performed to assess the associations between depression severity, ER and mindfulness in the patient group. Higher level of mindfulness was found in HCs relative to MDD group, however, no ER difference was present between the groups. A positive association between depression severity and the non-reactivity facet of mindfulness was found. On the other hand, ER was not significantly associated with symptom severity among individuals with MDD. Non-reactivity, unlike other dimensions of mindfulness, seems to increase with the severity of depressive symptoms among MDD patients. A particular focus on this subdimension in mindfulness techniques may yield better outcomes in alleviation of depressive symptoms.

Abstract
Cyberbullying is becoming increasingly widespread as individuals use technology more widely and frequently. Recent studies have shown a growing vulnerability for cyberbullying and cybervictimization, particularly in the adolescent population. We argue that dysfunctional metacognitions, which have been found to be prominent in various psychiatric disorders, may also play a role in predicting cyberbullying and cybervictimization over and above a variety of established factors including daily Internet use, social media use, depression and anxiety. For this purpose, we recruited 121 adolescents diagnosed with major depressive disorder (MDD) and 122 adolescents diagnosed with anxiety disorders (AD) from the child and adolescent psychiatric department of 'cankiri State Hospital' along with age and gender matched healthy controls (n = 120). Participants completed the DSM-5 Depression and Anxiety Severity Scales, the Social Media Disorder Scale (SMDS), the Metacognitions Questionnaire for Children (MCQ-C) and the Revised Cyberbullying Inventory-II (RCBI-II). Cybervictimization scores were found to be higher in the MDD and AD groups when compared with healthy controls. Cyberbullying scores in the MDD group were higher than healthy controls. Additionally, the Superstition, Punishment and Responsibility subdimension of the MCQ-C was a significant predictor of cybervictimization in the AD group while controlling for daily Internet use, social media use and anxiety. However, metacognitions were not associated with cyberbullying in the MDD and AD groups, as well as with cybervictimization in the MDD group. We concluded that dysfunctional metacognitions may be a preventive therapeutic target in reducing the impact of cyberbullying in adolescents with AD.

Abstract
The problematic use of social networking sites (SNS) is associated with several psychiatric disorders. This behavior closely resembles addiction in terms of neurological basis and behavioral patterns. Nevertheless, successful intervention strategies and the etiology of problematic SNS use are not yet thoroughly investigated. We aimed to study whether desire thinking is associated with problematic SNS use among adults when controlling for some confounders, including boredom, affect, and impulsivity. With the help of convenience sampling, we enrolled 546 Turkish adults in this study to whom we administered a sociodemographic form, the Social Media Addiction Scale (SMAS), the Leisure Boredom Scale (LBS), the Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS), the Barratt Impulsiveness Scale (BIS-11), and the Desire Thinking Questionnaire (DTQ). To explore the association between the variables, we performed Pearson correlational and hierarchical regression analyses. The results showed that higher scores on two sub-dimensions of desire thinking, namely verbal perseveration and imaginal prefiguration, were associated with higher scores on problematic SNS use after we controlled for boredom, affect, and impulsivity. This study demonstrates that desire thinking may play a role in problematic SNS use among adults. We recommend targeting desire thinking as a potential area in treatments which may help alleviate problematic SNS use.

Abstract
Background Anxiety disorders (ADs) are associated with numerous psychiatric disorders; despite the efforts in psychotherapy models targeting their etiology, novel treatment strategies are still developing. We aimed to assess whether mindfulness and metacognition differ between patients with ADs and healthy controls (HCs) and whether the symptom severity of ADs is related to mindfulness and metacognition among patients. Two-hundred participants were enrolled in this study. Structured clinical interview, sociodemographic form, Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire-Short Form, Metacognition Questionnaire-30, and Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale were administered. Multivariate analysis of covariance was conducted to compare the groups in terms of mindfulness and metacognition. Correlation and multiple linear regression analyses were performed to measure the association between the variables. Results The main finding indicates that positive beliefs about worry are associated with reduced symptom severity of ADs. Furthermore, HCs have more positive beliefs about worry and nonjudging of inner experience compared to patients with ADs, who utilize negative beliefs about uncontrollability and danger and need to control thoughts to a greater extent. Conclusions This study demonstrates that dysfunctional metacognitive beliefs may influence the anxiety severity of adult patients. We suggest that focusing on reducing maladaptive metacognitions may be supportive of AD improvement.

Abstract
Despite the well-known undesired effects of problematic social networking sites (SNSs) use, the studies performed with the psychiatric population are still scarce. The objective of this research is to discover whether problematic SNS use affects symptom severity among patients with anxiety disorder (AD). One-hundred patients with AD and 100 healthy controls (HCs) participated. State-trait anxiety inventory (STAI) and social media addiction scale (SMAS) were administered. In order to reveal the associations between SNSs use and anxiety symptoms, Pearson correlations and linear regression analyses were performed. According to our results, the state and trait anxiety were positively correlated with virtual communication scores among AD patients. HCs' trait anxiety was associated with both SMAS subtests; however, the state anxiety was not in a relationship with problematic SNSs use. Our study demonstrated the negative effects of problematic SNS use on AD. The clinicians should consider SNSs use patterns while managing the treatment of AD.

Abstract
Background: Desire thinking is a conscious and voluntary cognitive process that consists of perseverative focus on information, memories, and prefiguration of images related to a desired target. The Desire Thinking Questionnaire (DTQ) is acknowledged as a reliable and valid tool to measure desire thinking in both adults and adolescents. The aim of the present study was to examine the psychometric properties of the DTQ in Turkish adolescent sample. Methods: A convenience sample of 200 adolescents completed the Turkish version of the DTQ (DTQ-T) and an Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) was performed. Subsequently, a convenience sample of 701 adolescents completed the DTQ-T and a battery of questionnaires assessing personality traits, affect, boredom, impulsivity, and Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD). A Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was performed on the DTQ-T and validity was determined by examining correlations with other measures. Results: A 9-item two-factor structure was observed in the EFA. An 8-item two-factor structure was established in the CFA. Results demonstrated that the DTQ-T yields adequate levels of reliability and concurrent validity. Additionally, an examination of incremental validity showed that DTQ-T significantly predicted IGD when controlling for personality traits, affect, boredom, and impulsivity. Conclusions: The 8-item DTQ-T was found to be a reliable and valid measure of desire thinking among Turkish adolescents. Desire thinking may be a feasible target for mental health workers to alleviate the symptoms of IGD.

Abstract
The evaluation of cognitive functions in Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is fundamental to improve the efficacy of therapeutic interventions. However, the role of specific higher-order cognitive functions in adult ADHD, including cognitive flexibility, emotion recognition, and metacognitions, remains unclear. Therefore, in the current study, we aimed to examine these three distinct higher-order cognitive functions among adult ADHD individuals. Forty patients with ADHD with predominantly inattentive presentation and 42 healthy controls participated in the study. The Adult Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder Scale (AADHDS), the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test (WCST), the Reading the Mind in the Eyes Test (RMET), and the Metacognitions Questionnaire-30 (MCQ-30) were administered. Results indicated that patients with ADHD had worse metacognitions scores, in specific subdimensions, relative to healthy controls. However, cognitive flexibility and emotion recognition did not differ between the groups. Moreover, the cognitive confidence subdimension of the MCQ-30 was found to be sole significant predictor in the attention deficit subdimension of the AADHDS. Our findings suggest that lack of cognitive confidence may contribute to ADHD symptomatology despite regularly functioning cognitive flexibility and emotion recognition. Therefore, metacognitions could be a suitable target to alleviate the severity of ADHD symptoms.

Abstract
Background and aims: Problematic social networking sites (SNS) use is associated with important psychological problems among adolescents. Nevertheless, research on the aetiology of problematic SNS use is limited. Our aim was to investigate the role of metacognitions and emotion recognition in predicting problematic SNS use during the late adolescence period.
Methods: Eight hundred and sixty-one high school students were recruited for the study. Participants completed the Bergen Social Media Addiction Scale (BSMAS), the Metacognitions Questionnaire for Children (MCQ-C), and the Children's Version of Reading the Mind in the Eyes Test (RMET).
Results: A stepwise multiple linear regression analysis showed that all subdimensions of metacognitions (positive meta-worry, negative meta-worry, superstition, punishment, and responsibility beliefs, and cognitive monitoring), but not emotion recognition, independently predicted the BSMAS total score controlling for daily SNS use.
Conclusions: Our findings indicate that maladaptive metacognitions are associated, independently frequency of daily SNS use, to problematic SNS use among late adolescents. Interventions targeting dysfunctional metacognitions may aid adolescents who suffer from the detrimental effects of problematic SNS use.

Abstract
The research of depression genetics has been occupied by historical candidate genes which were tested by candidate gene association studies. However, these studies were mostly not replicable. Thus, genetics of depression have remained elusive for a long time. As research moves from candidate gene association studies to GWAS, the hypothesis-free non-candidate gene association studies in genome-wide level, this trend will likely change. Despite the fact that the earlier GWAS of depression were not successful, the recent GWAS suggest robust findings for depression genetics. These altogether will catalyze a new wave of multidisciplinary research to pin down the neurobiology of depression.

Abstract
There is an accumulation in studies which strive to reveal zonulin's potential role in mental disorders. To date, one cross-sectional recent study examined zonulin in patients with bipolar disorders (BDs); however, its role still remains vague due to high fluctuation. Our aims are to determine plasma zonulin levels in exacerbation and treatment response periods, and to examine the associations between zonulin and symptom severity in BD. 30 patients with BD type I and 29 healthy controls participated in the current study. Socio-demographic form, Young Mania Rating Scale (YMRS), and Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAM-D) were administered. Enzyme-linked immune assay (ELISA) method was used to measure the plasma zonulin levels of the participants. The groups did not differ in plasma zonulin-level comparisons. Plasma zonulin did not alter between the exacerbation and treatment response periods of the patients. Besides, no associations were found between plasma zonulin-level and disease symptoms. Intestinal barrier integrity was not found to be altered among patients with BD type I. The lack of alterations in plasma zonulin level between different periods may be attributable to several factors. One possible factor might be the ELISA method which can detect other proteins (e.g., properdin) rather than zonulin. Therefore, it might fail to indicate direct observation of intestinal permeability. However, future study designs with more accurate estimation of zonulin in a larger sample may provide a different perspective on intestinal permeability's possible role in BD etiology.

Abstract
Background Research on problematic internet use has greatly increased over the last decade. Although there were many studies related to problematic social networking sites (SNS) use, there is limited empirical research yet focused on exploring the relationship between problematic SNS use and Executive Functions (EF). Aim This study set out to determine whether problematic SNS use is associated with cognitive flexibility and inhibitory control aspects of EF. Method A total of 284 individuals participated in the study. A sociodemographic data form, Bergen Social Media Addiction Scale (BSMAS), and Wisconsin Card Sorting Test (WCST) were administered. Results Group comparisons revealed no difference in WCST performance between problematic and non-problematic SNS use groups. Categories achieved (WCST-CA) and perseverative errors (WCST-PE) subtests were correlated with "relapse" subtest and "total score" of BSMAS in problematic SNS use group. Regression analysis revealed that WCST-CA and WCST-PE were associated with "relapse" subtest of BSMAS in problematic SNS use group. Conclusion Our findings yielded a possible association between EF and problematic SNS use. Enhancing cognitive flexibility and inhibitory control may be beneficial in mitigating problems related to relapse in excessive SNS use.

Abstract
Research into internet addiction has dramatically increased over the last decade. Therefore, studies on Social Networking Site (SNS) addiction are increasing day by day. It is acknowledged that problematic use of SNS may affect academic improvement; however, there are contradictory findings in the literature. To ascertain its effect on academic achievements and to reveal its associations with sociodemographic variables, this study aimed to examine the relationship between academic success, sociodemographic features, and SNSs use patterns among university students. A total of 275 individuals participated in the study. A sociodemographic data form and the Bergen Social Media Addiction Scale (BSMAS) were administered. The results revealed a statistically significant negative relationship between age and BSMAS total score, and grade point average (GPA) and relapse criterion of BSMAS. Findings are discussed in light of previous literature on SNS. Limitations and suggestions for future studies are indicated.

Abstract
Although excessive use of social networking site (SNS) is related to undesired effects on healthy individual's psychological well-being, there is a huge gap in studies performed with individuals who suffer from various mental disorders.
Aim:
The main goal of this study is to examine the association between problematic utilization of SNSs and depressive symptoms across patients diagnosed with major depressive disorder (MDD).
Methods:
111 patients diagnosed with MDD (diagnoses confirmed via the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-5-Clinician Version (SCID-5/CV)) and 108 healthy controls (HCs) were recruited for the study. Montgomery-Asberg Depression Rating Scale (MADRS) and Bergen Social Media Addiction Scale (BSMAS) were administered by both MDD and HC groups. Group comparisons were estimated with multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA) analyses. To identify the relationship between SNS addiction and depressive symptoms, the Pearson correlations were performed, and finally, we computed the multiple linear regression analyses to determine whether SNS addiction predicts depressive symptoms.
Results:
The results revealed that MDD group is more addicted to SNS relative to HC. In addition, depressive symptoms were significantly predicted by 'relapse' subdimension and the overall score of SNS addiction in the MDD group.
Conclusion:
Our study illustrated the detrimental effects of excessive SNSs usage on depressive symptoms in MDD particularly for the individuals in 'relapse' state of SNS addiction. The mental health workers should consider the usage patterns of SNSs in patients diagnosed with MDD during their clinical observation and management.

Abstract
Social networking sites (SNSs) enrol new subscribers each day. However, problematic SNS use has undesirable effects on psychological functioning. Therefore, it is important to identify the factors that contribute to the development of problematic SNS use. Very few studies have focused on revealing the underlying mechanisms of problematic SNS use. Although many past studies have examined the relationship between metacognitive beliefs and Internet addiction, the association between metacognitive beliefs and problematic SNS use has not been adequately explored. In this study, we aimed to explore the association between metacognitive beliefs and problematic SNS use among young adults. A total of 308 individuals participated in this study. A socio-demographic data form, the Metacognitions Questionnaire-30 (MCQ-30), and Social Media Addiction Scale (SMAS) were administered. Group comparisons were performed using multivariate analysis of covariance. Pearson's correlational and multiple linear regression analyses were conducted to examine the associations between metacognitive beliefs and problematic SNS use. The SNS addicts scored higher in all of the SMAS assessments. When compared to non-addicts, SNS addicts obtained higher scores on all the subtests of the SMAS and MCQ-30 except cognitive self-consciousness. The negative beliefs about the uncontrollability and danger of worry, cognitive confidence, and need for control thoughts were associated with SMAS mood modification, relapse and conflict subdimensions. Our findings revealed that dysfunctional metacognitive beliefs are related to problematic SNS use among young adults. These findings indicate that mental health workers should consider the modification of metacognitive beliefs in the treatment of problematic SNS use.

Abstract
With the widespread use of the internet today, many studies have been conducted regarding the use of social networking sites (SNS). Despite the growing literature on the effects of SNS on human life, there are limited successful therapeutic interventions for SNS addiction. Our study aimed to elucidate the potential role of emotion recognition in the development of SNS addiction and to propose novel strategies for alleviating problems emerging from SNS addiction. A total of 337 individuals participated in the study. A sociodemographic data form, the Reading the Mind in the Eyes Test (RMET), and the Social Media Addiction Scale (SMAS) were administered. The results revealed the presence of emotion recognition deficits among individuals with SNS addiction, relative to non -addicts. RMET positive and negative scores were associated with SNS addiction in a negative direction. Additionally, RMET negative scores predicted SNS addiction. Our findings indicate a possible link between SNS addiction and emotion recognition, which might serve as a crucial target in novel treatment strategies.

Abstract
Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) and MDD specifiers with temperament and personality traits with a perspective focused on Nine Type Temperament Model (NTTM). Method: 203 healthy participants who are matched with the 208 MDD participants group between 18-60 years old and in at least eight weeks remission period and treatment in progress, without an additional diagnosis were included in the study. Socio-demographic data form, Nine Types of Temperament Scale (NTTS) and Temperament Character Inventory (TCI) were applied to all participants, and in addition, Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HDRS) were applied to the subjects with MDD. MDD specifiers were evaluated using follow-up data files. Results: According to results, both Nine Type Temperament (NTT) Model's types, which are NTT1, NTT2, NTT3, NTT4, NTT6 and NTT8, and Psychobiological Personality Model's dimensions which are consisted of the cooperation, persistence, harm avoidance and selfmanagement were found to be associated with MDD. From the point of MDD determinants; anxiety-distressing characteristics are associated with NTM2, NTM3, NTM6, NTM9; melancholy characteristics is concerned with NTT1, NTT5 and NTT6; seasonal characteristics are related to NTT4; mixed features are relevant with NTT4 and NTT7; and atypical features are associated with NTT5, NTT7, NTT9. As a result, MDD determinants are found to be associated with temperament types which are coming from NTTM. Discussion: It is seen that temperament, which constitutes the structural basis of personality, is an effective parameter both in the diagnosis and in the individual-specific recognition of symptomatology in MDD patients. In addition, it can be said that temperament can be a discriminating factor in defining MDD specifiers. The development of temperament-oriented diagnosis and treatment strategies in future studies may be beneficial for the practice.

Abstract
Studies investigating the psychological aspects of cancer have gained importance in recent years. In these studies, the rates of depression and anxiety in cancer patients were examined, but the risk of suicide had not been examined. This study investigated the psychiatric diagnoses of depression, anxiety, and suicide risk in cancer patients. Eighty patients who met the inclusion criteria were administered the Beck Depression Inventory, State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, Structured Clinical Interview for DSM (SCID), and Suicide Probability Scale. The examination of the relationships across variables was assessed with Pearson's correlation analysis and stepwise multiple regression analysis. Due to SCID assessment, 45% of patients were found to have depression diagnosis, and 11.25% were found to have anxiety diagnosis. In the patients who had previous psychiatric diagnosis and treatment, total suicide probability scores demonstrated statistically significant differences. The frequency of depressive disorders and anxiety disorders in cancer patients is high. The studies investigating that suicide are rare, and in our findings, previous psychiatric diagnosis and treatment were risk factors. In the past studies, depression has been reported to be the most important factor in increasing the risk of suicide in cancer. Contrary to previous findings, according to the data obtained from this study, anxiety is the most important predictor of suicidal risk among all the determinants.

Abstract
Background: The impairments in metacognitive functions and emotion recognition are considered as liable factors in anxiety disorders. Aims: The better understanding of these cognitive abilities might lead to develop more accurate treatment methods for patients who suffer from anxiety. Methods: Forty-four patients with panic disorder (PD), 37 individuals with generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) and 44 healthy control (HC) were participated in our study. Metacognition questionnaire-30 (MCQ-30), Reading The Mind From The Eyes Test and symptom severity tests were administered. Results: Statistical analyses estimated the dysfunctional metacognitive beliefs and disrupted emotion recognition in patients relative to HC. The 'need to control thoughts' aspect of metacognitive beliefs was accounted for symptom severity in GAD. Improper metacognitive beliefs were significantly predicted the PD and GAD. In addition, impoverished emotion recognition predicted the GAD. Conclusions: Our study revealed the role of inconvenient metacognitive beliefs and distorted emotion recognition in PD and GAD. These findings might facilitate the treatment management in cognitive therapies of anxiety disorders via pointing out more reasonable targets across improper cognitive fields.

Abstract
Background: It is widely acknowledged that schizophrenia patients tend to have insecure attachment styles and improper parenting. However, the biological processes related to these adversities remain unclear and that the disturbance in oxytocin system is considered as one of the strongest predictors of such adversities. Methods: Thirty-four patients with schizophrenia and their unaffected thirty-four healthy siblings were recruited for the study and they were compared with thirty-one healthy controls. We examined attachment styles via Experience in Close Relationship-Revised Test and perceived parental attitudes with the My Memories of Upbringing-Short Version Test. In addition, we evaluated plasma oxytocin levels across groups. Results:The patients with schizophrenia had lower plasma oxytocin levels and obtained higher levels for attachment anxiety and avoidance with more parental rejection and over protection. There was a significantly negative relationship between the levels of plasma oxytocin in blood and parental over protection in the healthy sibling and healthy control groups. In contrast, there was a significantly positive relationship between the levels of plasma oxytocin in blood and parental over protection in the schizophrenia group. Results of the regression analyses revealed that the plasma oxytocin levels and over protection were notable factors in discriminating the groups from each other. Conclusion: Our findings suggested that disturbance in oxytocin is associated with susceptibility to schizophrenia predisposition. In sum, therapeutic interventions that address oxytocin and over protection may influence the outcomes in this severe mental disorder.

Abstract
Objective: This study aims to demonstrate the reliability and validity of Turkish version of DSM-5 generalized anxiety disorder scale which was developed to measure the severity of generalized anxiety disorder. Method: In this study,50 in- or out-patients who met the criteria for any anxiety disorder according to DSM-5 were included. One hundred volunteers without any mental or physical disease were also recruited as the control group. Beside the study scale, State Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) was used for concurrent validity.Internal consistency coefficient and item-total correlation analysis were performed for reliability analysis. Exploratory factor analysis was used for validity and correlation analysis with Spearman Correlation Analysis was used for concurrent validity. Results: Mean age was 28.9 +/- 12.6 years in the study group and 57.3% of the sample (n=86) were female. Disease duration for anxiety disorder was 17.4 +/- 9.5 years in the patient group. The internal consistency of the scale was 0.91. Item-total correlation coefficients were between 0.64-0.83 (p<0.0001). For the exploratory factor analysis one-factor solution was obtained with an eigenvalue of 6.89 representing 68.93% of the total variance. Factor loadings of the items were between 0.48-0.76. Coefficient of correlation analysis with STAI was calculated as r = 0.43 (p <0.0001). Discussion: With these findings, it has been shown that Turkish version of DSM-5 severity scale for generalized anxiety disorder is reliable and valid.

Abstract
Many with schizophrenia experiences deficits in social cognition, neurocognition and metacognition. Yet the biological mechanisms which may underpin these cognitive deficits are poorly understood. Two candidate causes of these deficits are disturbances in oxytocin (OT) and vasopressin (VP). To explore this we assessed plasma OT and VP in 34 schizophrenia patients and 31 healthy controls. We also concurrently assessed social cognition using the Reading the Mind from the Eyes test, neurocognition using the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test and metacognition using the Metacognitive Assessment Scale-Abbreviated. Group comparisons revealed lower plasma OT levels in the schizophrenia group. Plasma VP levels did not differ between groups. Correlations revealed that lower levels of OT were associated with poorer levels of metacognitive functioning in the schizophrenia group but not poorer social cognition or neurocognition. In a stepwise multiple regression, plasma OT level, neurocognition and social cognition contributed uniquely to the prediction of metacognition in the schizophrenia group. Results may suggest that disturbance in OT is linked with deficits in metacognition and may interact with other forms of cognitive deficits, interfering with the person's abilities to form a complex and integrated sense of self and others.

Abstract
Previous studies reported attenuated cortisol reactivity as one explanation for poor social functioning in schizophrenia. Recent research has demonstrated that both glucocorticoid and oxytocin systems are central to stress regulation. Here, we studied the associations between basal oxytocin, stress-induced cortisol levels, and social functioning and social support in schizophrenia. A mock job interview was used as an ecologically-valid social stressor in 32 schizophrenia patients. Blood samples were taken before and after stress induction to assess basal oxytocin and cortisol levels. In addition social functioning and social support scales were collected. Patients were divided into cortisol responders and non-responders according to percentage change following stress induction. Our findings revealed a possible subgroup of patients who did not exhibit attenuated cortisol responses. Importantly, cortisol responders had generally better social functioning, but perceived social support was not different between groups. There was also no evidence of a relationship between cortisol and oxytocin. This study highlights the heterogeneity of cortisol responses to stress in a schizophrenia population, and the importance of the relationship between social functioning and cortisol reactivity. These findings could be relevant when considering therapeutic interventions that manipulate endocrinology in order to improve real-world functioning.

Abstract
Objective: Attachment is defined as the continuing and consistent emotional bond between child and caregiver. The inadequacies or the occasional failures in relation between mother and child will affect the attachment negatively. A number of studies have demonstrated that there is a relationship between insecure attachment and the symptoms of schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder. Oxytocin hormone have positive effects in attachment, social interaction and child care. Studies regarding the level of blood oxytocin and its associations with the attachment styles of mothers of schizophrenia patients are very rare in the literature. The aim of our study is to clarify the attachment patterns believed to play a role in the etiology of schizophrenia and to compare the current relationship of oxytocin hormone with the parents of patients in comparison with the healthy control group. Methods: Thirty-four healthy mother of patients diagnosed with schizophrenia and 31 healthy mothers were included to the study. Participants completed the Close Relationships Inventory-II and blood oxytocin levels were measured. The t test was used to compare the groups and the Pearson correlation analysis was used for the correlation. Results: In the study, it was determined that mothers of schizophrenic patients had higher Close Relationships Inventory-II scores and lower blood oxytocin levels than healthy controls. In addition, there was an inverse correlation between blood oxytocin level and Close Relationships Inventory-II scores. Conclusion: In our study, insecure attachment patterns (anxious and avoidant) were observed in the mothers of schizophrenic patients and it was shown that there was a significant relationship between the style of attachment and oxytocin. Low blood of oxytocin levels were related with insecure attachment among the mothers of schizophrenic patients. Moreover, it can be considered that the mothers of the schizophrenic patients because of the bidirectional interaction affect the connection; it could develop unsafe attachment patterns.

Abstract
Objective: Studies conducted with patients with schizophrenia and first-degree relatives show that, the pathology in theory of mind may be related to the risk of psychosis. The theory of mind capacities of the mothers may be effective in the prognosis of schizophrenia. The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of theory of mind capacities of patient mothers on the severity of the disease.
Method: The study was conducted with 34 schizophrenic patients and their mothers, and 31 healthy mothers. Sociodemographic data was captures for all groups. In addition, PANSS was collected from patients and Reading Mind From Eyes Test was collected from the each patient mother.
Results: There was no statistically significant difference between the age and education levels of the groups. The mothers of patients with schizophrenia performed significantly worse in the Reading Mind From Eyes Test than the control group. There was an inverse correlation between theory of mind capacity and the medication dose, PANNS general condition and PANNS total score.
Discussion: The significant difference between the groups suggests that the impairment in the function of the theory of mind can be regarded as an endo-phenotype for schizophrenia. The low theory of mind capacities of the mothers of schizophrenia patients can cause the mothers to misunderstand the feelings of their patient which could lead to increase in disease severity and drugs

Abstract
Objective: There is substantial evidence from animal research indicating a key role of the neuropeptide oxytocin (OT) in the regulation of complex social cognition and behaviour. Social cognition is indispensable for social relationships for the whole of human society, and numerous studies have shown impaired social cognition in schizophrenia (SCH) and unaffected first-degree relatives also seem to be impaired, albeit to a lesser extent. Because of that, this study focuses on the role of OT in social cognition in SCH.
Methods: Twenty-seven patients with SCH, 27 healthy siblings (HS) of these patients, and 27 psychologically healthy controls (HC) were included in the study. Blood samples were collected through a peripheral venous catheter. Differences in the socio-demographical and WAIS-R were tested by chi-square and one way-ANOVA. To explore the relationships between social cognition and blood samples we performed Pearson correlations. MANCOVA (gender and WAIS-R as covariates) test was performed to investigate the effect of gender on blood levels of OT and WAIS-R on social cognition.
Results: Significant differences were found in neurocognitive and social cognitive capacity but not in OT levels. In the healthy control group, there was a positive correlation between blood OT levels and RMET. There is a statistically significant difference between high and low OT groups with regard to social cognition in all subtests of the RMET.
Conclusions: In the current study, we found that patients had deficits in social cognition and neurocognition. Lower endogenous OT levels are also predictive for poor social cognitive functioning in HS and HC.

Abstract
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a complex condition that involves problems with bowel movements and belly pain, bloating, and gas. It is not life threatening, but can be a long-lasting problem that changes life quality. Several studies have shown that up to 70-90% of patients with IBS who seek treatment have psychiatric co-morbidity, most notably mood and anxiety disorders. There are different approaches in the medication for IBS. Antidepressants such as tricyclic antidepressants and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors are shown to be useful in the treatment. Vortioxetine may become a possible new agent in the treatment of patients with major depressive disorder and IBS with diarrhoea co-morbidity.

Abstract
Excessive daytime sleepiness, cataplexy, sleep paralysis, and hypnagogic hallucination are the classic tetrad of narcolepsy. It has been shown that narcolepsy, a chronic and disabling disease, starts in childhood and adolescence rather than adulthood. The International Classification of Sleep Disorder (ICSD-3) classifies narcolepsy into Type 1 (narcolepsy with cataplexy) and Type 2 (narcolepsy without cataplexy). There is low awareness and knowledge of narcolepsy among the general public, primary care physicians, and sleep specialists. It has been shown that the lack of recognition of disease symptoms delayed the diagnosis of narcolepsy from 8.7 to 22.1 years. In this case report, we will discuss the case of Type 1 narcolepsy, which started in the prepubertal period and was diagnosed and treated in a short period of time.

Abstract
Objective: Previous studies documented that there were a variety of endophenotypes that helped to diagnose as well as to predict functionality and treatment response. There is little, if any research that focused on investigating biochemical endophenotypes. Besides, the studies that include executive functions and social cognition, which were accepted as endophenotypes, have different results. In studies involving schizophrenia patients, the deficiency of oxytocin was found to be the most important hormone that would affect the treatment process. However, there have been no endophenotype studies that investigated the role of oxytocin hormone in the treatment process of schizophrenia patients. The purpose of the present study was twofold: (a) to detect new endophenotypes, and (b) to test endophenotypes that were previously found by focusing on the schizophrenia patients' mothers. Methods: The participants were the healthy mothers of schizophrenia patients and healthy control group. They took the Reading the Mind in the Eyes Test, Wisconsin Card Sorting Test, and Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale vocabulary subtest, respectively. In addition, participants' blood samples were collected to include the level of plasma oxytocin as a biochemical in the data analyses. Results: Results revealed that there was a significant difference in plasma oxytocin levels for the healthy mother's of schizophrenia patients and the healthy control group. Low level of plasma oxytocin level was found to be the only significant factor that differentiates the patients' mothers and the healty control group. When the results of the Reading the Mind in the Eyes Test that measures executive functions, and the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test that measures social cognition were analyzed, no significant differences were found between the groups. Discussion: Our findings showed that oxytocin hormone could be a new endophenotype for schizophrenia. However, there is still a need for studies that focus on the investigation of detecting new endophenotypes.

Abstract
The purpose of the present study was to investigate the validity and reliability of the Turkish Form of the Agoraphobia Scale. The scale was originally developed to measure the severity of agoraphobia regarding the DSM-5 criteria. Methods: This study was conducted at the Department of Psychiatry in Celal Bayar University Hospital. The participants were in-or out-patients diagnosed with any anxiety disorder according to the DSM-5. The exclusion criteria were comorbidity of other psychiatric disorders and/or physical diseases. Accordingly, 50 patients with anxiety disorder were included in the study and these were distributed as panic disorder in 14 patients, generalized anxiety disorder in 10 patients, agoraphobia and obsessive-compulsive disorder in four patients, post-traumatic stress disorder in one patient and not otherwise specified anxiety disorder in 17 patients. One hundred and three volunteers without any mental or physical disease were also included to represent the healthy control. Additionally the most widely used self-rated scale of the Spielberger's State-Trait Anxiety Inventory was used for concurrent validity. Reliability analysis was performed to examine the internal consistency of the Turkish version of the scale. Additionally, item-total correlations were reported. In terms of examining the validity of the scale, subgroup validity analysis was conducted to investigate whether two groups of patients differ in their scores on the scale. ROC analysis was also performed. Results: The mean age of the study group was 29.0 +/- 11.8 and 60.1% of the sample group (n=92) were female. 66.0% of the group were college graduates, 19.0% primary school graduates, 15.0% is also high school graduates. Disease duration of anxiety disorder group was 17.1 +/- 9.7 years. The internal consistency of the Agoraphobia Scale was 0.95 and, item-total score correlation coefficients of the Agoraphobia Scale were between 0.66 and 0.87. In the explanatory factor analysis, for sample adequacy Kaiser-Meier-Olkin (KMO) coefficient was 0.92 and Bartlett coefficient was 1.57. Single-factor solution was obtained and the eigenvalue was 7.16, explaining 71.68% of the total variance. Factor loadings of the items were between 0.71 and 0.90. Coefficient of Spearman correlation analysis was r=0.31. Conclusion: Results demonstrated that the Turkish version of the Agoraphobia Scale was a valid and reliable instrument which may serve as useful in guiding future research that aims to measure agoraphobia severity.

Abstract
Hyperprolactinemia is a severe problem which involves galactorrhea, amenorrhea, sexual dysfunction, and lowered bone mineral density. It can be a long-lasting problem belongs to the atypical antipsychotics that impairs treatment adherence and quality of life in patients with schizophrenia. The paliperidone palmitate may cause hyperprolactinemia and there are different approaches in management of this adverse event. Adding oral aripiprazole was shown to be useful in the treatment of hyperprolactinemia due to paliperidone palmitate. Now the new drug long-acting Injectable (LAI) aripiprazole may become a possible new agent in treatment of schizophrenia patients with paliperidone palmitate induced hyperprolactinemia.

Abstract
Aripiprazole is the atypical antipsychotic which has lesser extrapyramidal side effects. Aripiprazole once monthly was recently developed as a long-acting injection (LAI) for intramuscular administration. We presented a case that developed akathisia after the first LAI of aripiprazole. The akathisia symptoms occurred after the first dose of LAI and there was not any sign of akathisia during his oral treatment with aripiprazole. The clinicians should manage the administration of LAI carefully and observe the possible side effects.

Abstract
The deficits in metacognition have been observed in schizophrenia but developmental roots of impaired metacognition are not well understood. Accordingly, this study compared metacognitive abilities of patients with schizophrenia and healthy group and examined the relationship between childhood trauma, attachment style and caregiver attitudes with metacognitive capacity which might contribute to metacognitive deficits in patient group. 35 patients with schizophrenia and 35 healthy people were included in the study. Metacognitive capacity was measured using the Metacognition Assessment Scale Abbreviated (MAS-A). This scale comprises four domains: self-reflectivity, understanding other's mind, decentration and mastery. Group comparisons revealed that schizophrenia patients had greater deficits in metacognitive ability. We found that the report of childhood emotional abuse, a pattern of anxious attachment and over protection by caregivers were uniquely related to metacognitive capacity. Abstract
Objective: It has been widely acknowledged that the community and health professionals hold negative attitudes toward patients with impaired mental health. This constitutes a major obstacle for those patients in coping with their disease, managing their care, and hence regulating their lives. Although studies carried out in Turkey document the presence of stigma, they provide limited information about the ways for solving this problem. Drawing on the litrature, the present study investigated the effect of medical education on stigmatization.
Method: During 2008/2009 academic year, 106 freshmen who were majoring in the Medical School at Celal Bayar University volunteered to participate in the present study. Participants have not yet received any theoretical or practical training on psychiatry. At the beginning of the study, they were informed about the purpose of the study and accordingly requested to fill a consent form. The 32-item schizophrenia subscale of the Attitude Questionnaire developed by Psychiatric Investigations and Education Center (PAREM) was administered to the participants. Along with the questionnaire, they were also requested demographic information. After 5 years, the participants who completed their psychiatry internship were reassessed with the same instrument. Results: 106 volunteers participated in the present study. The majority of the participants were females (54.7%) with equal balance of income and expidentures (65.1%) having a mental disease percentage of 5.6%. Findings showed that students' attitudes towards schizophrenic patients changed significantly positive as they proceed from first year to the fifth year.
Results demonstrated that as students move through the years they report more positive attitudes in the areas of etiology of schizophrenia (p<0.01), treatment options (p<0.01), approach to schizophrenic patients (p<0.01), and social interactions (p<0.01).
Conclusion: We claim that the development of positive attitudes should be integrated in to the mental health curriculum not only in particular years but also throughout the whole years of education. Along this continuum, we believe that students would become more aware of the needs of the schizophrenic patients and gain an on going intuition toward the difficulties that the patients encounter. Viewed together, at the stage of acquiring medical/psychological skills students should be given the opportunity to have direct contact with patients in order to give adequate response to patients' needs and thus observe the improvement at the end of the treatment.

Abstract
Septum pellucidum that forming the medial wall of the lateral ventricles, a thin layer is formed by two laminae. Cavum septum pellucidum (CSP), a space between the two leaflets of the septi pellucidi, is thought to be a neurodevelopmental anomaly associated with schizophrenia. In normal fetal development, the formation of septum pellucidum occurs at the same time with the development of the neighboring limbic system structures such as hippocampus, amygdala, corpus callosum, septal nucleus. Therefore, the anatomical differences that are detected in the septum pellucidum may reflect the embryonal development disorders of the adjacent anatomical structures. Several magnetic resonance imaging studies have reported a higher prevalence of enlarged CSP in patients with schizophrenia than in normal subjects. In the literature of psychiatric disorders, CSP is most associated with schizophrenia. Wide CSP may support the neurodevelopmental etiology of schizophrenia. In this report we present a schizophrenia case. And we tried to discuss the patient's clinical appearance and neurocognitive disability.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES: Breast cancer is the most common non-skin malignancy in women. In breast cancer, the basic principle of endocrine therapy is to deprive tumor cell from the growth-stimulating effect of estrogens. The oldest, best-known and most widely used endocrine therapy medicine is tamoxifen, which is a selective estrogen receptor blocker. All factors that are known to have adverse effects on flap and pre-reconstruction flap survive should be eliminated 3 weeks before the surgery and started at the end of the 3rd week after the surgery. When the literature is reviewed, there are limited studies about that tamoxifen increases the risk of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. The aim of this study was to research whether tamoxifen had adverse effects on the skin flap and muscle-skin flap survive.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: In this study, 32 female Sprague-Davley rats were used. Their weights ranged from 220 to 250 g. 4 groups, each consisting of 8 rats, were formed. In this experimental study, in which rat models were used caudal based rat dorsal skin flap and superior pedicle rectus abdominis musculocutaneous flaps were applied. Control groups were formed for both flap models. Study groups were treated with tamoxifen citrat and control groups were treated with placebo.
RESULTS: As a result of the statistical evaluation done by measuring the surviving flap areas, it was found out that tamoxifen had no negative effect on flap survive.
CONCLUTIONS: Based on these findings, it was concluded that there was no need to stop tamoxifen as long as 6-7 weeks in patients undergoing breast reconstruction with pedicle flap techniques.

Abstract
Cancer is a disease that requires a long-term treatment, therefore, its psychological impact on patients is important for clinical oncology. Despite improvements in medicine over the years, cancer continues to be an illness that inspires panic and anxiety among people, involves ambiguity, and evokes a death fraught with pain and suffering. Various studies show increased risk of suicide in people diagnosed with cancer. The prevalence of psychiatric disorders among inpatient and outpatient cancer patients is approximately 50%. Many studies have shown that unrelieved pain, major depression, loss of control, emotional distress, and loss of physical functioning are the leading factors that may cause suicidal thoughts in cancer patients. The physician should be alert to such patient characteristics, make a good risk assessment, and be able to take appropriate action especially on patients at a high risk for suicide. The patient who attempted suicide must be seen by a psychiatrist as soon as the medical intervention is completed. Because, this period is often referred to as the period when people are in need for help like they have never been before. Psychotherapeutic modalities should not be time consuming; they should take into account the general condition of the patients, and involve their family members and the treatment team as necessary. It is both the psychiatrists' and the patient's primary physician's responsibility to find out and resolve the psychiatric conditions associated with the suicide. Solution-focused interventions that comply with this approach will contribute greatly to improving the quality of life of patients.
